Returning to Spirit: Residential School Reconciliation Program (Part I: March 26-30, 2012) Workshop at St. Joseph  the Worker 753 West Burnside Rd.  It is based on returning people to the spirit of who they are rather than reliving the painful experience of the past, particularly that of residential schools. It is for both First Nations people and non-First Nations. Learn how to: discover the spirit of who you are; move beyond healing and experience reconciliation; create a future based on choice rather than on reaction to the past; experience the impossible as being possible; bridge the differences between yourself and others; discover how residential school shows up in your life today and how it impacts Canadian society; and be part of the solution. For more information please contact Mary Parry (St. Michael’s) at 250-477-0593or email maryparry3@gmail.com.

The KidStart Mentoring Program is calling all caring, compassionate adults to consider volunteering 3 hours per week as a mentor for a child or youth aged 6-18. KidStart was created to connect vulnerable kids with stable, consistent adults for a year or longer. Whether you're walking your dog, baking cookies or reading together, many mentors and mentees develop lifelong friendships. Through role modeling and encouraging kids to participate in activities that build their confidence, mentors help children and youth become more resilient and successful in the face of numerous challenges in their lives. If you or someone you know might be interested in volunteering with KidStart, please visit www.kidstart.ca or you can also call 250-386-3428 in Victoria.  Mentoring opportunities exist in most  Communities  across B.C., so please find out more  about this  rewarding and meaningful way to help one little person today.
